Movie : Bol Bachchan (2012)
Main Cast : Ajay Devgn (Prithviraj) , Abhishek Bachchan (Abbas Ali) , Prachi Desai (Radhika), Asin (Sania Ali)
Genre : Comedy
Plot Summary :
To cut the long story short, circumstances force Abbas and his sister Sania to move to a village where Abbas saves a kid from drowning in a temple and catches the attention of Prithviraj. Somehow Abbas is introduced as Abhishek Bachchan to Prithviraj who is shown as a man who absolutely despises liars. Abbas ends up working for Prithviraj. The whole movie basically shows how Abbas hides his real identity from Prithviraj, and all the comical hungama that happens in the process.
What worked :
1. Most of the dialogues, especially Prithviraj's hilarious attempts at speaking English.
2. Abhishek Bachchan's funny gay dance - one of the highlights in the movie.
3. Beautiful locations, feast for the eyes.
4. Performance of the entire cast.
What didn't work :
1. Music - I didn't care much about the songs. Am I the only one who thinks that Himesh Reshammiya's voice DOES NOT suit Ajay Devgn at all?
2. Climax - was quite a let-down. Could have been executed much much better.
3. Length of the movie - a bit too long for a comedy. Some scenes could have been excluded as it gets a bit draggy after some time.
4. A few scenes are not as funny as intended do be.
5. Love scenes - there was not much focus on this as it was just a sub plot but I could not feel any chemistry between Ajay-Asin and Abhishek-Prachi.
Performance :
On a whole, brilliant though the heroines were not given much importance.
Ajay Devgn - have always been my favourite. One of the very few actors who can do comedy with a serious face and pull it off so darn well.
Abhishek Bachchan - Perfect. He deserves all the praises he has been getting for his performance.
Prachi Desai and Asin - Mere eye candies. Since this movie was basically about Ajay and Abhishek, these beauties were quite wasted.
Krishna Abhishek - Stole the show with his perfect comedy timing and amazing expressions.
Archana Puran Singh - Did complete justice to her role. Very good performance.
Asrani - loved his performance. Performed even better than the lead casts in some of the scenes.
Neeraj Vora - did complete justice to his role.
Verdict : 3/5. On a whole, Bol Bachchan is a very entertaining film, if you choose to ignore logic of course. Watch it for the laugh inducing dialogues and the brilliant performance of the entire cast.
